Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 726 -- FORMATION OF NEW POLITICAL PARTIES

SPONSOR:  Bray (May)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Elections by a vote of 11 to 0.

This bill allows new political parties to nominate presidential
electors in a way that is consistent with other deadlines for the
party's formation and the election of party officers.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill is necessary to ensure
consistency in the laws regarding the formation of new political
parties.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Bray.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
